Thangalaan also mean The Son of Gold is an upcoming movie of Chiyaan Vikram directed by Pa. Ranjith. It is a historical action drama Tamil language film. Thangalaan is produced by Studio Green, Jio Studio, and Neelam production.
Thangalaan movie was planned in 2014 when Pa. Ranjith narrated this movie to Chiyaan Vikram but it got delayed for some reason then after 7 years the makers started the project and after this delay, this movie was officially announced in December 2021.
First, the name of the movie was not Thangalaan, first, it was called Chiyaan 61 because it is Chiyaan Vikram’s 61st film as a lead actor.
The principal photography of the movie starts in October 2022 and ends in July 2023.
Thangalaan movie shoots were done in Chennai, Andhra Pradesh, Madurai, and Karnataka, and music was composed by G.V. Prakash Kumar first Anirudh Ravichandran was selected for the music but eventually, Prakash Kumar got the work. Cinematography was handled with care by A. Kishor Kumar and Editing was done by Selva RK

Thangalaan film starts Vikram in lead role along with Malavika Mohanan, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Daniel Caltagirone, Hari Krishnan Anbudurai, Vettai Muthukumar, Arjun Anbudan and Sampath Ram.

Based on the true events that revolve around the lives of mine workers in the K.G.F. (Kolar Gold Fields)Karnataka. The film is set in the British Raj in india. There is a tribe where a British general comes for the searching the gold. Chiyaan Vikram (Thangalaan) is the leader of the tribe whose gonna save the tribe from the wrath of a mysterious witch she is played by Malavika Mohanan
The art direction is looking so cool and the set designer made the film a gorgeous piece of art to watch. The cinematography is top-notch, and extras are making an effort to make this film glow, But Chiyaan Vikram steals the show, his level of acting is going on the whole another level, He looks totally different character and not only by his make and costume but he change his body language and face expressions. it’s like Vikram is changed into a whole new person, and that too with the backdrop of a British raj and as tribal leader, Chiyaan Vikram really did a marvelous job

Thangalaan film is set to be released worldwide on the Independence Day of india i.e. 15 August 2024. Thangalaan Movie is released in 3d format as well as in standard formats. Apart from the theatrical release, the makers are planning to send the film to film festivals across the world too.

According to the CEO of Studio Green, Dhananjayan, Thangalaan’s budget was not 100 crore as they expected but when shooting started budget kept increasing and now the budget of Thangalaan Movie has already exceeded 100 crore and is a bigger film. The film rights already purchased for 100 crore by streaming platform Netflix
