The Viennese start-up SimyLife has developed a game controller called SimyBall that helps you handle stress and enhance your concentration by playing games. When you hold it in your hand, the ball’s integrated sensors provide you with colour-coded feedback on your personal stress level in a matter of seconds. Based on the recorded vital signs such as your pulse, skin conductance (skin resistance) and temperature, the additional software suggests games that help you come down. To relax you can make guided concentration and breathing exercises, play mental strength training games and interact with a digital coach.
The SimyGames (specially designed gaming apps) are controlled by the SimyBall using movement interactions and play buttons. The vital statistics recorded during use are integrated into a personalized and fascinating gaming experience and determine the user’s success.
The software is running on smartphones, tablets, and PCs so you can play anywhere you want, even in the office. This might be the coolest solution to alleviate stress and prevent burnout. It only takes a short amount of time, around 5-10 minutes, to complete a game and relax. If you are overworked or have just come out of a stressful meeting at work, the SimyBall enables you to enhance your performance and concentration within minutes.
This approach of stress self-awareness and quick relaxation through gaming, has a strong appeal especially to tech fans, because of its playful gadgetry nature.
The SimyBall system (made and designed in Austria)
The SimyBall is a mobile game controller and biofeedback device in one. It improves the user’s perception of their body’s reaction to stress. The user learns to identify how much stress has an activating function and how much is too much.
A Kickstarter campaign for the product has been launched on November 14th, finding over 80 supporters within hours.
